Current life of "superwomen" after primary family breakup
Hanáková, Šárka ; Kobová, Ĺubica (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
This thesis is dedicated to women who were called "the super women" during the communist era. Their mission was to combine their profession with taking care of their children alongside of being a housewife. Even though the traditional model of the men supporting the whole family changed to more democratic model with the both man and woman supporting the family, the housekeeping and taking care of children still stayed the wive's responsibility. In the period of communism, women were "double burdened". They dedicated their lives for their families and the free time they had, which was less then what men had, mostly corresponded with the interests of children and the whole family. In this thesis I focus on how these women live nowadays. They have already retired and after losing their partner they now live alone. I also focus on how they deal with this different life situation and changes in their social roles. I work with the theoretical approaches of emancipated femininity and active aging as a way to cope with changes in social status. I chose the qualitative approach as a research method. It is implemented in this diploma thesis by analyzing thorough interviews with widowed seniors.

In this context, the Thesis also concerns the third age and the active old age. In the Thesis, there are characterized some leisure activities for seniors to fulfil their free time in meaningful ways. Plenty of free time is a typical characteristic of a person who has left the labour market and become a pensioner. The Thesis also describes the phenomenon of death and dying. For some people nowadays, this issue is often a very uncomfortable topic. They would like to eliminate death from the whole human society because death is connected with terrible pain and suffering. In this part of the Thesis, there are introduced two real human stories. Two members of my own family who have their own experience associated with death tell us their stories to express their views on the issues of death and dying.
Looking back at life
KAVKOVÁ, Adriana
The old age is a life balance sheet period. The seniors assess their existing life at this age - especially they are considering whether they have experienced life as they imagined; they look for the results they have left behind and they evaluate their mistakes that they have made on the their life road. The bachelor thesis focuses on the retrospective view of seniors´ lifes. Support for the chosen topic is the issue of old age and aging; the starting point is Erikson's concept of old age, especially the space of the eighth and ninth age and their developmental tasks. Furthermore, the concept of quality of life is introduced. The practical part focuses on the life stories of our respondents. It focuses on mapping the events that they consider as the most important in their life; which events they evaluate as valuable and positive, but also if there is an event or something they regret. Qualitative research is realized through in-depth interviews with female seniors.
